History of AFIPTISP

In 2014, AFIPTISP was officially registered in the National Register of Associations (Group: 1/Section: 1/National Number: 604669).

Comprising experts from the academic world and translation and interpreting professionals, its main objective is to promote the recognition of Public Service Interpreting and Translation (PSIT) as a profession and, consequently, to contribute to improving its standing in Spain.

It also aims to:

  • Participate in events that help to enhance the image of TISP and the professionals working in the field.
  • Defend the interests of professionals working in this field;
  • Promote training, reflection, research and the exchange of knowledge and materials;
  • Raise awareness among employees of public and private organisations and those responsible for their management regarding the role of the translator/interpreter and their functions;
  • Organise activities, courses, seminars or conferences that promote continuing professional development in this field of study and related areas.
  • Publish relevant materials;
  • Establish relationships with other professional associations and related public and private bodies;
  • Participate in events that help to enhance the image of TISP and the professionals working in the field.
